When we brought Venus home, we were told she was 8 months old. In researching and reading on ekkies, I haven't found info on when their beaks turn colors. When we got Venus her beak is fully black. I recently saw a pick of a female Ekkie who's beak is not completely black at about 9 months old. I've been looking at landovos.com but haven't found info on age and beak color? Any thoughts???

The rate for beak color changes can vary from one bird to the next. Some get their adult coloring relatively quickly, others not so much.

Check out Kinny's thread on her baby ekkies. Those are males, but both have beaks almost completely yellow within around 3 months! Yet poor Bixby still has significant shading on his and he's almost a year and a half! (Granted, Bixby has been quite ill. But it just goes to show that any number of factors, from genetics to well-being, can factor in.) So beak color can only be an indicator to a point... and I think it's quite possible that an 8 month old might have a beak that's completely black.

I had a similar issue with Yoshi. He was around 4 months old when i got him and had not one trace of black on it. i worried for a while that i was lied to about his age but it became clear after a few months that if not 4 months he was at least definately young as he was very clumsy climbing around his cage as well as trying to fly and after a few months i got to see him get better at everything so he went through some big learning curve and now he's just a pro at everything :p
I'm still not 100% i was given the correct age, i've yet to see a 4 month old bird with a bright orange beak and no traces of black at all but i'm not really fussed about it anymore.

Females tend to color up beak wise even faster than males so a totally black beak at 8 months is within reason imo.

A friend of mine who raises Eclectus, her girls had fully black beak at around 6 months old.
