It has finally gotten to me.

My lovely little Jasper baby has decided he loves screaming. This has actually been going on for a few months but I've been trying to work with him to stop it.

He screams (not sure why) in the mornings sometimes, especially on weekends. He'll be out of his cage and it's almost like he spots something outside, goes into his unhappy stance and screams and screams.

Or, sometimes he'll be baby talking, all happy, whistling, then screams.

When he does this I want to scream too LOL.

So far if I'm near him when he's doing it (sometimes he'll even do it when I'm holding him and it scares the crap out of me) I'll say "Too loud" (sternly) and turn my back to him. A few moments later he'll usually continue with baby talk or just stop screaming. Great. But then it happens again.

Any ideas why he's screaming and what I'm doing wrong to try and stop it?

I'd also just like to add a happy note, he loves to whistle now :) Sometimes when I'm talking to him I'll whistle, and he'll whistle right back :D So awesome.

Ok back to screaming. Please help!

I have similar issues with peeko! Some days are better than others. Yesterday was horrible, he would just not stop screaming. When this happens I try giving him a time out for a little while for him to calm down. Also I put him on the floor and walk to a different room so he will follow me. This gets him to stop screaming, not exactly sure why but its fun. Lastly I try to limit his fruit intake. Yesterday he had more fruit than he normally does and he was just a hyper little kid. Today he got no fruit at all and he was significantly calmer.

Great thanks, I'll check this out.

His cage is actually at the far end of my living room, it couldn't be further from the window :p He just has good eyes I guess.....

You have a flock "sentry."

When you said he was screaming at stuff as if he saw something outside, I figured there was a window nearby...

I have a "neighborhood watch" bird. She sits in the window, and will tell everyone if someone isn't supposed to be there. The amazon "flock alarm" call can be quite loud. Fortunately she only gives us a few blasts, and then will sit there doing the flip flap thing with her wings, and motioning to me with her head to come and see...

Nobody "sneaks up" on this house. :D

LOL no need for an alarm system.

I'm going to keep working on the ignoring/'too loud' and see if it will go away with time. It's not AS bad so fingers crossed he'll stop!

Amazon Flock Alarm........It uses no electricity, can scare the pants off any intruder....and can be heard several houses away, and make your ears ring for hours....Yes I have 2 of them installed!!!!
