I've read about WHAT to feed Eclectus but not HOW MUCH to feed. I've also read that many people overfeed their Eclectus rather than underfeed. I am going to be putting my Eckie on a diet of TOP Pellets and fruits/veggies. How much of each should I give for a Morning, evening routine?

So, 1/2 cup of pellets and 1/2 cup of fruits and veggies? Or more than this?

You can feed as he empties his cup. I usually throw in each day a quarter cup, he doesnt eat much. You can give him 1/2 cup veggies and fruit and i suggest a cooking seed mixture, i give that at about 3 or 5 o'clock in the afternoons. Its like his dinner, they do need it. You can cook up for the week and place it in the fridge and give each day, you can also add a teaspoon of sunflower seed with it.

Let me know if you dont know what the seed looks like, i'll then post a pic on that for ya!!!

So 1/2cup of veggies/fruit AND 1/2cup pellets? I will be adding beans as well; I'm just trying to get a general idea of how much total amount of food per meal.

For example, no more than 1 Cup, but it could be 1/3 pellets, 1/3 Fruits, 1/3 beans, etc.

How much TOTAL food for each meal?

Once you get your baby home, and he is settled, he will let you know how much to feed. I don't think Bucc has ever eaten everything in his bowl, If there's a lot of leftovers then I cut it down, if most is eaten I add a little more.

The measurements you state sound pretty sound for a start, you may find that he will want less/more, in that case add/decrease a little until you feel comfortable that he is getting enough.

When do you pick him up, how old will he be?????? Looking forward to seeing pics. :D :D

Here's what i do...

Breakfast: Fill up pellet cup to quarter. Cut fresh apple and carrots and fill
up to half the other cup.

Midday-early evening: At around 3-5 o'clock, a quarter cup seed mixture (a
must for eckies). Can add veggies and fruit if he wants
some. Also add a teaspoon of sunflower seed with
seed mixture.

And thats that, i feed morning and then afternoon. You can give veggies and fruits twice a day since your eckie is much older, but for now i give mine once because he doesnt eat very much at all.

Let me know how you go on, when is he coming i am so excited for you!!!
Good luck!

Wilma!!!:D
