Back story: I'm the owner of the six month old female who stopped eating and had to be put to sleep. I'm still waiting on the necropsy results.

My male, Jack, didn't come down from the top of his cage this morning to eat. His chop last night was pretty protein heavy so I thought maybe he wasn't hungry yet. I showed it to him at the top and put it down inside and he didn't follow like he normally does. It's noon now, so I put some seed on a platform near where he was and he's now down eating it. Should I be as worried as I am?

It's so unfortunate that you don't have the necropsy results yet.

Ekkis are usually pretty hardy eaters, especially first thing in the morning, so if I were in your shoes, I'd play it safe and get your boy to an Avian vet as soon as possible, letting him/her know you lost a female to (still) unknown causes.

It really is! I just want to know what I'm dealing with. My vet knows I'm keeping a close eye on him. I just don't want to stress him out unnecessarily. Even with antibiotics Raja didn't make it and she was so incredibly stressed.

He ate all of the seed I gave him and he's back at the top of the cage. I guess I should call her at least to see what she says. I really hate this.

He's fine! He ate his breakfast and now he's on top of his cage making monkey noises. I don't know what was up with him yesterday. I'm very thankful and guess I am a bit overly concerned. I'm not reeling it in though until I get the results.

Thanks so much for the update! :)

I can fully understand why you would be on edge. My fingers and toes are crossed that you will soon have answers about your girl, and that you may breathe much easier then!
