Every once in a while, Maya and Jolly will let me know when they are particularly pleased with one of my culinary efforts. And here is the latest dish that met with their discerning (snooty) ekkie approval! It was a veritable cornucopia of fruit and veggie goodness, including: broccoli, blueberries, papaya, mango, anise, green squash, bell peppers (red and green), snap peas, kiwi, endive, hominy, lupini beans, Jamaican hot peppers, pomegranates, plums and carrots! (Not pictured, as I'd grated it and added it after the pic, is a radish.)

Maya was sporting a full beard, but she ran over to her favorite perch the instant I approached and swiftly made herself presentable. Lol! Such a princess! At least I caught a tiny bit of food on her beak!

Doc, I didn't know you were such a culinary artiste!!! Lucky birds, too irresistible even for the snootiest of ekkies. Hahaha, Jolly isn't the least bit shy about digging in and wearing the proof. Maya, a princess to the manor born, 'Just a second Dad, let me freshen up before my photo shoot.'

Adorable Doc! Thanks for sharing the photos and the yummy recipe!

Seems Maya and Jolly enjoyed it! Maya sounds like a bit of a diva if you ask me:54: Jolly says "my compliments to the chef" with his potty beak:D

That chop looks amazing, no wonder they loved it! Great pictures of Jolly and Maya, and i love how she cleaned herself up like any self respecting Princess would do:)

Thanks, everyone!

Funny thing is that it was Maya's hysterical food face that prompted me to take the pics in the first place! But she's hilarious! Her cleaning the food off her beak wasn't coincidence. She does it every single time I approach her cage! If she's been eating and sees me coming, she deftly leaps onto her swinging boing, sails across the breadth of the cage, dismounts smoothly onto her pedi-perch and frantically wipes her beak clean! High comedy to watch!

Btw, looking at the pic of Jolly's beak, I realized that I forgot one of the ingredients added later... slices of boiled egg with the shell for my molting fids.

Hahahaha! For a chance to meet K1 and She Of The Funky Blue Afro? (SOTFBA?!?) If you were within driving distance I'd already be there!

Mmmmm, looks great! I'll be over for lunch tomorrow!!

Hahahaha! With the size of your flock, the advance warning is much appreciated. If I start now, I should be done by the time you arrive. :p

Thanks, Wendy! Yeah, those food beards crack me up every time!

I've gotten the opposite as well, though. From Bixby, actually. Not often, but every once in a while I'd chop up a combination that he just wasn't feeling... and boy did he let me know. Not with any sounds of protest, however. No. Bixby would just stare in disgust for a few moments before calmly and deliberately making his way back up to his favorite perch and sitting in perfect silence.

I tried once to call his bluff. "Oh, that's the breakfast that I made for you and you're going to eat it!"

Yeah, I broke before the three hour mark. Once I'd removed the offending fare, he sauntered back down to the bowl and happily began munching away. Sigh.
