Marjory, Which sub-species is she??

This is Marjory. She will be 11 weeks old tomorrow (9/6/2015). I got her when she was 5 weeks old. The person I bought her off told me she is a red-sided, I have researched for weeks now and I cannot find a Red-Sided Eclectus with her colours and markings.

What is your opinion???

Hi Exoticeckies. I'm no expert at all but I do have in my opinion the Eclectus bible. "A Guide to... Eclectus Parrots by Dr Rob Marshall & Ian Ward" I had a look to see if I could find a female with similar markings. I couldn't see any with the green on the back of the neck like your little girl. But as I was told by someone on this forum when I asked the same question. She is to young now to tell for sure as the feathers will change with maturity. It's quite probable she is a sub species cross bread. But like my little girl she does have the yellow on her tail witch suggests a cross with a Vosmaer's Eclectus.

I agree with the above poster. Marjory may indeed have a Vos in her lineage due to the yellow band in her tail.

Once she is fully grown, her weight and size 'could' be an indicator at what she might be.

Her coloring on her back most certainly is quite unusual. To rule out any health issues I'd have an Avian vet do a thorough checkup on her. If she's healthy, then it's likely she will molt out those 'colorful' feathers on her back.
