Just a quick question, my gorgeous girl Miss Peppa has an obsession with my mouth LOL!! Whenever she sits with me she is constantly trying to get in my mouth...literally!! I can't even talk or laugh if she is sitting with me, she gets so excited and wants to eat me. Is this normal??

OMG - Dexter has started doing the same thing. But, he's not just trying to get his beak in my mouth, he's trying to stick his entire head into my mouth. It's both hilarious and annoying!

Robin does that when we're laying on the bed together. He's up on my shoulder/head area, and I have to be careful to keep my mouth closed when my face it turned within his reach.

Human saliva 'can' cause bacterial infection in parrots because they don't naturally carry the same 'type' of bacteria in their gut. Best not to let them eat off your fork or bite off a piece of food you've bitten off of. It might not necessarily become an issue, but it 'can', so I'm careful.

Peppa is the same!! She has started this about a week ago and is obsessed. I'm glad this is normal. Whenever I start talking or even smile she's trying to get in my mouth. They are funny!!

I think my story is a little more disturbing guys. When we had cockatiels, those annoying little creatures would stick their heads in my mouth and would scrape/eat the plaque and film off my teeth! I mean, I've never had cavities or gum disease, and I brush twice a day, but still! And they'd just force their heads in there! It isn't like I could just close my mouth since I'd end up biting them! Also, I didn't really want them to end up going for my eyes as an act of retaliation :p. I'm not even going to mention what they did with my nostrils. Ugh.

Dexter has tried to go after a booger in my husband's nose one day. We nearly all died laughing. Now he sometimes calls him "booger bird," as a term of endearment of course.

Man, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who's experienced it! I didn't want you guys thinking I was going around with gunky teeth or a dirty nose! Well, when I had those cockatiels I didn't have to worry too much since they kept me well groomed :p.

So, how do you think it would have gone if you didn't try to stop Dexter? I mean, the difference in beak size alone between a cockatiel and an ekkie! I've never kept large parrots before, so I'm having the hardest time picturing something other than your ekkie tearing your husband's nostril in half while trying to reach the booger :D!

I could certainly see having a half-nostriled husband, if Dexter had been dead set on the booger mining. Thankfully, the Mr has a mustache, so Dex can always look to the cookie duster for an extra snack when the nose is empty LOL.

But seriously, Dexter has a big beak that can punch a hole in you if he's so inspired, but since he's settled in with our family, he's turned into a terrific, gentle, mush of a bird. All that being said, I'm super glad he doesn't want to floss our teeth!

Parker is maybe a shade easier, but still obsessed. When I'm eating, if he is on my shoulder at the time He sticks the pointy part of his beak into the corner of my mouth and tries to drag it over towards him so he can try to make me feed him. It's cute but a little creepy and I brush him away.

Sasquatch, my male Ekkie was obsessed with the mouth. Perhaps he aspired to be a dentist?!

Venus, my ekkie, is hormonal right now so she is not allowed close to my mouth because she has been regurgitating. So far on my fingers, in my hair, on my laptop, shirt, it's become more frequent. She'll press her beak to my lips for a kiss but the last couple of weeks I can see she's got a "gift" ready, so no kiss you or getting close to my mouth right now, lol.

Oh gross, I would be so freaked out if Dexter regurgitated in my mouth! Thankfully, he's still a baby!

I'm not looking forward to this with Parker. *shudder*. Actually I'm not sure what I'm dreading more, the masturbation or the regurgitation.

Bella does this to me too. She is very rough about it though. She likes to grab my beard and force my mouth open. I almost feel violated.
