Jasper (6yr old Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot)
This morning when I got up Jasper was sneezing excessively in his cage. I was really worried so I reached in and he stepped right up. Both of his nostrils were moist, and once when he sneezed I could feel it on my arm. He was also making a couple motions with his neck/wide open mouth.

I wanted to call the vet immediately but it was 8am and they don't open until 10.

I hopped online and did some searching and found that humidity can be the culprit. It gets too dry which can cause the clear discharge. I checked the humidity and it was only 32%. I've been using a humidifier for a month or so and can keep my apartment around 45-50% but I turned it off through the night so it wouldn't disturb him.

I put the shower on hot and got it up to 55% in no time. Before that Jasper stopped sneezing and suddenly returned to normal (chatting, playing, totally fine). So I decided not to take him in today and try to keep the humidity up.

I have a Skype call going at work like always but I'm making sure to keep headphones on throughout the day so I can listen for any sneezing. None so far and its been 2 hours since I left home. He's talking/happy.

A scare for sure but hope it's just a humidity thing.

Definitely keep an eye on him and do take him in if he has any other changes!

Birds can have snot, too, so it can be rather unsettling when we see a lot of it!

Any updates here Katie? I had this happen to Parker but it only lasted a few hours and disappeared.
