Hey guys!

So I had one of those rain shower heads in the bathtub and Jasper absolutely loved it. Wings wide open, happy, half hour showers. The problem was he was constantly getting water in his nose and 99% of his shower was spent sneezing. I even angled it so he could move in/out of the water, but he seems to like to stick his face right in it. lol

I decided to switch the shower head to one of the ones with a long hose so he could sit on his shower perch while I showered him with it. That way it wouldn't go in his nose b/c I'd be directing it.

I showed it to him beforehand, was a little scared but eventually decided it wasn't so bad. Awesome.

Twice now when he's actually in the shower with the water ON he freaks out big time. Crouched low, wing flipping like he wants to get the heck out of there.

No idea why he's so scared of it but I feel like I'm just torturing the poor guy. I'm considering putting the other one back on but then I get worried about all the water up his nose again.

Any suggestions? :green2:

Where was Jasper perched with the old (rainshower) head during his baths? Was he on a shower perch?

You could try the below and see if he likes it. :) (the Green Wing!!!!)

Great video. I wish Willow way 1/2 that excited about taking a shower, lol, she doesn't "hate" it but certainly doesn't enjoy it.

Nope, Jasper refuses to go on the floor of the bathtub. He'll only go on his shower perch!

Jasper LOVES showers so much, but the new shower head not at all. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way I can get him to like this one instead of having to use the old one and getting water up his nose all the time.

Could it be the setting you're using? Jolly's enjoyment of baths took a definite upswing once I realized that I was using too gentle a setting.

Not saying to jet blast poor Jasper into the tiles or anything. Hahaha! And it could actually be the opposite as well. Maybe the setting is too strong as compared to the rain style shower head. Might be worth checking out. (Temperature has also been a major factor, but since he was thoroughly enjoying his baths before I'm betting you have that particular aspect completely figured already.)

I had it on the softest one and adjusted so it was even less. He still was deathly afraid of it. It's kind of funny, he's perfectly fine with it when it's OFF, but as soon as the water is on, forget it. I even held it far away from him with the water on so he could just check it out for awhile and that was too much. No idea what it was.

So I uninstalled it, reinstalled the old one, and I have a happy (sneezy, water-filled nose) bird once again :p

I was having the same issue with Uglow and the shower. Felt like he was waterboarding himself. Most of the time he didn't enjoy it and when he was he would stick his head in the water and sneeze up a storm.

This is what's been working for us now.
We have a detachable (with hose) shower head. We set it in between the regular and massage settings so the "regular" water pressure is more like a sprinkler.
I also discovered accidentally that placing a large tupperwear container under him creates a loud splashing sound when the water hits it. INSTANTLY get's him in the mood for his shower now.
Sorry 'bout the crappy cell phone video.

That's exactly what I bought for Jasper but he's deathly afraid of it LOL. Glad it works for Uglow though! Jasper just prefers his rain shower I guess LOL
