I have a supicion Parker might be in EARLY EARLY stages of spring hormones. TINY bit more unpredictable behavior over the last few days, and bitten three times over three days. I have to emphasize its a small change, barely noticeable except to me.

What's REALLY caught my attention is walking into the house today to a VERY strong sweet, fruity smell similar to honeydew melon I know for a fact is coming from Parker. The last time he smelled like this was in July/August of last year when he came to live with me and it lasted maybe a month.

Is this a sign of hormones? Do your ekkies get this?

I will say it's an interesting smell! Does your ekkie smell like that all the time? It's just weird to me that comes and goes, absent significant diet change.my first thought was hormones given the time of year and his unpredictability.

Interesting topic. My guy has always had a sweet smell but it's only noticeable when you get within an inch of him. He's under a year old though. Maybe it gets stronger when they're hormonal? Curious to see what other have to say.

Both of mine have the scent and have from the day I got them. The female is more pronounced though. It is a fruity smell.

Definitely hormone season. I've been bitten twice in the last few days. But both times it was when I went to put him back in the cage and he doesn't want to be there.

Ok I was doing some research and came across the thread. I’m resurrecting it because once again I’ve noticed the super sweet smell coming from parker again. I have not noticed it since this thread.

And of course he’s having a bit of a hormonal fit.

Very interesting...

Hmmm... only time I notice any kind of smell coming from my Eclectic Duo is when I feed them stars of anise. LOVE that aroma! But no, I've never noticed any kind of sweet smell during hormonal episodes.
