I'm proud of this! I've been wanting some way for Parker to hang outside without worry. I came up with this! Just hang a dog crate halfway out the window! Slow introductions, since he was nervous and unsure. The swing door reaches over to his stand for easy escape.

Soon after the above, I got him to to poke a head in with food bribe

Our ultimate goal is a nice cylindrical aviary on the porch for when we are out landscaping.

Chris, what a great idea! The only thing I think I would do is try to get a piece of wood or something in place of the towel, just in case he decided to pull that down.

Yeah terry that's a question mark for sure. Definitely slapped together and needs refining. But for today he's closely monitored so that's next weekend's issue.

I bet he is so going to enjoy that once he gets used to it! I'd love to see your neighbours expressions!

Great Idea Chris I like it. It's funny because I have been looking at small or portable cages all day. I want something I can put BB on the deck. He spends so much time on his Playstand at the door .

I think you and I are thinking similar things Christine. I'm looking for something like below, but, you know, parrot safe. Corner friendly, smaller footprint but tall.

I actually want one on wheels. Something I can roll in and out. Something like this. The playtop would be useless to me . For now anyway.

He refuses to allow the harness to be on. I really do not want to push it. He is finally growing feathers around his neck and back so I don't want to irritate anything in that area.

I have that exact cage at my moms house for Parker when we travel down there. You need something bigger for sure, BB's tail would fall through the bottom grates on that one just sitting on the perch. The playtop requires assembly. Don't have to put it on top of you don't want. But you definitely need something at least 4' tall.

This was generally a fail today. He wasn't having it. Just need to work with him.

Ive been eyeing up some seemingly nice, but cheap cages online. Found some from RL (Rowland Wholesale) in West Covina, CA--I think a decent size cage is about $200 shipped....and some that look the same but dont carry a brand on Craigslist (new) and claim to be bird safe powder coated.

Chris that's great! As long as the crate bar spacing isn't too large for Parker. I like the creative thinking :).

I have a suggestion. Lowe's and Home Depot carry a window air conditioner support bar which screws into the window sill and is pressure mounted to your siding/brick outside.

We have a big house and because of my medication and the fact I'm in the master bedroom 23 hours a day, we put a window unit in here to avoid $700 electric bills from cooling the whole house. I need it to be 60 degrees to sleep (my medicine has its benefits though.)

I installed the heavy duty support bracket but I would recommend it just so his cage doesn't go sliding or falling out the window. I would also add some type of strap, screwed into a stud on the inside. You can buy the window AC accordion panels to put on either side of the cage or use wooden boards.

We have a screened-in porch where I take my fids or we roll out to the driveway and go for rides on my wheelchair in the sun. They love it!

I'm sure he is one happy baby!!
