Well today I decided to vacuum again, for the first time Angus was absolutely going off!! Being very vocal and flapping his wings like he does in the shower. Miss Peppa has never done this, she only sits on top of her cage and watches. Has anyone else experienced this? I have not seen him so vocal like that before.

Is he distressed or does he like it?

Plum likes it and wants his head feathers sucked for some strange reason :-( (History: prev home)

NB Do not do this as the loss of an eye would be awful!

Gizmo gets vocal, but doesn't fluff up, Pebbles doesn't like the vacuum cleaner, she will fly to another room.

No he seems to get excited, he isn't screaming, he is chatting quite loud and flaps his wing like he does in the shower.

The daft thing is those that like the vacuum cleaner then freak out if you use a broom or walk past with an ironing board?

Wrangler went off when I cleaned Saturday. Wasnt an alarm scream, but he carried on even when i wasnt in the same room--it wasnt a call ive heard from him until now. Liesl was her usual unflappable self--didnt seem to make any difference to her. Oh! and that dirty bird...he said "hello" to my husband, who he'd been screaming at until 2 days ago. Me? the person who feeds him, brings toys, cleans the cage, lets him out, etc....I was downstairs! No mistaking who the hello was for! Baby's first words went to someone else---not fair hmmmmmf!

I know how that feels. I feed, clean, shower and cuddle Angus but he loves my husband who does nothing with him. But Peppa loves me :)

Dexter loves the vacuum. He takes a dive in either his water bowl or a bath dish (when I remember to put one in for him before I clean) and has himself a floofy bath. He also talks and caws and whistles up a storm the whole time it's running.

None of mine like the vacum cleaner I get screamed at by Peter Pan and the evil eye from Mr Biggles who turns his back to me...not sure about Elsa yet and what her reaction will be but shes brave about things so it might not bother her...I will have to wait and see when I vacum her room later :)

It's so funny. I've never experienced that with Peppa.

Parker (boy) screeches at the robie the robot vaccuum - and the kettle, and pretty much anything else that makes noise. Bird (hen) isnt bothered by it. Our little blue masked lovebirds love it, they come to the edge of their cage to watch it go too and fro, whereas our other lovies arent interested at all.

A robot vaccuum is pretty useful when you have birds. I bought it on a whim but am now a true believer.

Angus loves it - but Peppa could not care less. They are funny little critters.

Interesting reaction today. I resumed cleaning, this time in the dining room/bird room. Liesl was outside in her crate drying off from her bath (and so i could clean all the dried goop off the walls and floor!) so it was just Wrangler in his cage. I vacuumed without a peep out of him. Later, I bring Liesl back in and finish up by vacuuming the kitchen floor and he is non stop chatter, screams and wild bird calls. Showing off for her?

I have heard that the sound of the vacuum reminds birds of thunder, which brings on rain. So alot of birds fluff up and go crazy like it raining. Tequila does it alot when I vacuum. She fluffs up and goes nuts!!!

Not so much the sound of thunder as the similarity to the susurration sound of rain. Terry (Terry57) regularly turns on the vacuum cleaner to get her birds in the mood for a bath.

Yoshi always starts talking with the vacuum on. In fact whether it's the kettle, tap, rain and any background noise in general sets him off.
