Well, I think the pretty chicken is angry with me. We had our nephew who is 18 months old for a few days, so not only did he get most of the attention, but she didn't even get to come out and hang out on her stand.

She did get to come out, when I was directly handling her. She just doesn't like to stay on her stand all the time, and when she gets bored, she'll jump down. I figured I would rather her stay in her cage more for a couple days than see what would happen if she were to get on the floor and he tried to grab her.

I usually don't worry about the dogs too much, they will leave her alone for the most part. I don't leave her out around the dogs unsupervised, but I have enough time to walk across the room to grab her, and if I walk out of the room to use the restroom, the dogs follow me. (Heaven forbid I use the bathroom alone). However, I would not trust the nephew to leave her alone until I got over to her. She is a big, fluffy looking, colorful bird.

Last night, he had gone home, so I had her out and let her hang on her stand for a while. She was being rather nippy, and I think it's because she wasn't pleased with being locked up for a couple days, when I was home. She doesn't seem to mind too much when I am gone, she will play with her toys and keep herself entertained. However, she is used to being out when I am home, so I think I upset the order of things for her and she was expressing her displeasure.

I did put her back in her house last night, a few times. I normally don't mind if she gets beaky with me, but when the bites started getting harder than they normally would, I would set my finger on her beak, and tell her to "be nice". Then the next time, she had to go for a time out. When I took her out of "time out", she would be nice for a little bit, then get grouchy again. Rinse and repeat. I also want to point out, that I was not tapping her beak, but I found that setting my finger on her beak will make her pause for a second, so it's merely a distraction.

Hopefully we're in a better mood today. We have to go to my mother-in-laws today to set up some stuff outside for our reception tomorrow, and as long as it stops looking like rain, maybe the pretty chicken will get to go bye bye. She goes with us over there every once in a while. I think it keeps her used to going places and being around other people. I can't find many people who are willing to hold her (I am one of the only bird people I know), but at least seeing other people will help her get more socialized I hope.

Oh yes Salty get in a huff if I am away for a few days, or Geri didnt give him enuf out of cage time. Lots of stuff sets him off, usually takes a day or 2 for him to forgive and forget.
