I am curious about the pretty chicken's eye ring. She has a few tiny blue feathers, so she has an eye ring, it's just not very distinct. Here, let me show you.

That was as good as I could get. Her favorite part about me taking pictures, is trying to eat my phone. Anyways, when I look online, I always see pictures of females with stunning, bright eye rings. Like this:

I am just curious as to whether her eye ring will get brighter and more distinct as she gets older, or if it will just never be as "obvious". I am not overly concerned, just wondering. I have tried finding something explaining it, but I haven't found anything on the intensity of the ring, just that some subspecies have them, and some don't.

How old is Aria? Liesl is just beginning to grow hers in and she was 4 months this week. The eye ring should be almost fully in by 6 months. The breeder told me her feathers will be brighter/more intense after her first molt, which wont be until later this year. Female subspecies is often determined by size when fully mature--so you may have to wait a bit.

Opps...sorry, mixed the answers to two posts...that's what happens when you're up with the chickens and havent had a full pot of coffee yet.

She will be a year in 2 weeks, providing what I was told is actually accurate. Like I said, the eye ring is there, it's just faint. Maybe it will be more intense after she moults, which I wish she would hurry up and do so she gets her primary flight feathers back in.

Pebbles - Female Eclectus Parrot
Not sure of Pebbles genetic background, but she only has a thin blue ring around her eye (relative to other images I have seen online), I think it's just because she is so naturally beautiful she doesn't see the need to put on as much makeup:p

As far as I am aware she is fully mature, so I think this is how she will remain.

Here's a photo of ruby's eye ring. She has quite a slim eye ring also so I would not worry about your girl. The pretty chickens eye ring will probably become more distinct with age though. She is definitely beautiful though. :D:red:
