ok, so it wasnt really a hike, more like a 10 minute walk down a trail in my back yard, but it was fun! he stood on my hand and checked everything out, and he seemed to enjoy it very much! he saw wild flowers, beach sand, the river, and helped me inspect striped rocks that i always gather when i go to the river :)

also, before anyone gets nervous, he wasnt wearing a harness because he cannot fly. he still continues to chew his wing feathers and cant even take off for a few feet. he was happy to stand on me the whole time and i only let him walk around freely for a second while i sat in the sand with him, far away from the water :)

You're right: I *DID* get nervous! Thanks for the reassurance.
Wow, what a gorgeous bird. His beak is in spectacular shape.
He looks beautifully healthy... maybe he'll give his wings a break someday.

Hahaha! Anyone who has a trail in their backyard that can accommodate a ten minute walk has an impressively sized property! Nice! (Unless the trail flows in concentric circles, anyway. Lol!)

Loved the pics, and it's so good to hear from you, again! Been a little while. How are things with Sir Ziggy? He's looking really good and, from the looks of things, you're both getting along famously. Please give him a few good scritches for me.

thanks everyone! :) it has been awhile, ive been very busy and havent logged on in what feels like forever!

ziggy is doing great! hes up to 378-382g. at bed time, so hes gained a little in the time ive had him ((which was 1 year on aug 18th!)) i now consider him to be 26 years old!

hes STILL molting! hes been dropping little feathers steadily since February, and for awhile he had a bald spot on the back of his head but that has since filled in. im wondering if the diet i provide for him has helped him enough so he can support a longer and more thorough molt than he had been? hes gonna stop soon though id imagine, its getting to be close to fall.

i hope everyone else here is well! and i apologize for being away for so long! have a wonderful evening! :)

Healthy Parrots Molt! Molting requires a steady flow of a healthy diet and a reserve that you picked-up on with his weight. If Ziggy has not molted for sometime, you could be in for a extended and healthy molt.

So happy to hear from you and that Ziggy is doing so well!

Lets see here...Maine..a river in the 'back yard'...any fish in that river??

Ok...now here is the plan..Amy LOVES everyone and everything <just ask Al and Salty ;)> Amy is an outdoor type of girl..loves walking about in grass tasting this and that. And she LOVES other birdies. I'll bring my fishin' pole..Amy will bring her birdonality..Ziggy can walk about with Amy..maybe they'd hold "arms" ;) and get along fabulously :green::green2:,,and we could have a great day!! :D J/K!!!

Ahhhhh...I can dream can't I???? :21:

Hello littleredhen77, I'm a newbie here but I just had to comment on what a fine young man you have! He looks so striking in the sunshine with those beautiful backdrops, they are some really great pics! He looks like he had a lovely day with you. Strangely enough I got my ekkie on the 18th of August this year - how odd!
