Each parrot is different and will need you to figure out what he liekes best, and what is good for him. And each parrot owner is different too. All I can tell you for sure is what I do for my Salty.

He has Roudyboush pellets available 24 hrs a day. When his water bowl was closer to the food bowl, he used to dip the pellets in water , return them to the food bowl and eat. Since we moved them apart, he doesn't do that any more. Pellets changed 1x a day , fresh water 2x a day.

He gets lunch around 1:00pm - 2 or more kinds of fruits that we know he will eat. Those are removed around 5 PM.

Dinner is at 7-7:30, with the family ( very important to building the 'flock' feeling in parrots, in my opinion). Dinner is either chop of various kinds, mixed with Avi-cakes, or pellets or groats OR cooked sweet potato or pumpkin or squash. THat is left until bed time at 10. When we make chop, it's a lot of it ( last batch was 38 baggies of it) and we defrost some before dinner. Sometimes zap it to 'cook' the contents but usualy not. He likes a hot peppers based chop, I mean the hottest, plus all the good veggies thrown in. Chop Day is like every 1-1/2 months like this.

I hope this helps. Every parrot is different, some like big chuncks some like smaller, some will want chop very finely chopped.

Salty gets some pine nuts chopped into small pieces as training treats, after dinner, and sometimes during the day if he is being a good boy.

Use the search feature , you will get pages and pages of results on diet, chop and feeding of parrots.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I definitely separate servings of chop (fresh fruits and vegetables) from any other substances such as pellets, seed, millet, etc.

An emphasis on chop is most important for Eclectus and should form the bulk of their diet. In warm climates it may be necessary to give two servings daily to prevent spoilage and mold development. When the chop is removed, small amounts of pellets and a bit of seed are provided.

My entire flock as some sort of food available 24/7.

Gus is still a picky eater. He eats pellets but doesn't like veggies, and we are still experimenting with fruits to find things he likes. I found the main thing was to show him that something is edible. If I put it in his bowl, he ignores it. If I put some of what's on a plate in his bowl, and then stand next to the bowl and eat from my own plate and make yummy noises, he will look at me, sidle over to the bowl and look in it, look at me, look in the bowl, look at me, touch the food with his beak, look at me, pick up a bit of the food and drop it back in the bowl, look at me, pick up the food and eat a bit of it, and if he likes it he continues to eat it as long as I stand there next to him and eat the same thing.

In general he doesn't like to eat by himself. I have to at least sit at the table and eat with him, even if we have different foods. He won't eat from the bowl unless the flock eats, though he will munch on pellets through the day.

Dinner is our big meal for the day, both with Salty and my human flock. I am lucky enough that my 2 sons still live with us, and Salty gets upset if for what ever reason we dont have dinner together. My little Maxie was the same way - he had to be part of dinner!

I give my birds 2 main meals a day. All fresh with fruits and veggies fed together. I don't feed pellets since they are eclectus parrots. In between meals they get nuts as training treats, and maybe a teaspoon or so of seeds for dessert. (The seeds are in their own treat bowl.)

Male Eclectus
Found this thread while researching seed mixes. My eclectus gets a skewer of veggies and fruit during the day, then chop for dinner. I often mix several seed mixes together (I.e. Dr Harvey's Perfect Parrot or Exotic Parrot blends with a smaller hookbill or eclectic blend from Volksman's). However, I'm trying to find a seed mix with less nuts and sunflower seeds. Wondered if anyone has any recommendations!
