So for awhile now I've been struggling to get Lincoln to eat his fresh fruits and vegis, but I finally found a solution! I always found it odd that he would immediately take to any pelleted food without hesitation but not touch his fruits and vegis no matter what I put in it. So either I had an extremely picky bird when it came to fresh foods or it was something else. I decided to experiment with his food a little more so I crushed up some of his pelleted food and mixed it in with the fresh food to make it crunchier. He took to it almost immediately! I guess my guy just prefers a crunchy texture as opposed to something soft. Wants something he can grind up

Preferences, preferences, preferences! It is amazing what watching and adding what works with something that is not will change the results. Great observation!

Yup! Their food preferences can be as varied and seemingly random as ours! Lol! And it can be as much about texture as it can about taste. (Probably due in part to how much weaker a parrot's sense of taste is than our own.)

I made a similar discovery about Jasper last night. We had an unexpected guest for dinner and didn't have enough veggies to go around so I had to steam a few things for him in the microwave. I overcooked them. Who the heck knows how long to cook 2 baby carrots, a piece of broccoli and a piece of cauliflower? Anyway, they were really soft. So when I mixed them, they just mushed together. He ate it more so than any other night. I guess he likes his food "burnt".
