Well we have our first egg for 2017. Venus has been very affectionate and clingy but no dark, nesty areas available. Yesterday I opened Venus' cage and she came out but didn't come visit. When it was time for her antibiotics, I went to get her and she came to me but beaked me and ran away but came back to me quickly and got on my hand. I place her on my shoulder, mix her meds, she poos on my shoulder, it was huge and runny. We go to the bathroom, I have a shirt changing process with her on my shoulder. Have half the shirt off and she poos huge and runny again down my naked back. I jump in shower, put her on the shower rod. She's happy, but when I look up at her, I notice I can see her tush really well and it looks huge, swollen and stretched out. I yell for Husband and ask him to look in and around her cage for an eggs. She had been in her cage for the majority of the day. She's been working on a shredding project with her toys, blocked, receipt paper, Chinese finger handcuffs, shreddables. I hear him laughing and he comes to the bathroom and says "yep she laid an egg!" He found it under a pile of shredded toys and paper in the bottom of her cage.

This is egg number 8 total, egg number 1 for 2017 so Husband has started calling her Dashiki, a character from the Wayans brothers movie "Don't Be A Menace" from 1996 who had a ton of kids and was like Fertile Myrtle, LOL. Venus amazes me, she wants to lay soooooo bad she's doing it without all of the typical laying conditions! So we have been giggling about it however I've started a calcium supplement with her while continuing antibiotics for her nare infection. I've pulled her fake eggs out so they are ready. I'm waiting 48 hours to see idpf she lays egg number 2. Ekkie females typically lay 2 eggs at a time. I called the vet and he said to replace the eggs like last time and let her sit for 6 weeks then remove them.

I think I can take the title of Ekkie egg laying pro now. Goodness she's an egg laying machine!!!

MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

That's a lot to deal with!

At times like this, I'm almost glad to have a demon-rooster. I congratulate you on your care and vigilance, my friend.

Our parrot had antibiotics several times, but when we had to move to the Big Gun drugs his poop got weird. Then he was producing so much urine it was like he dumped his water bowl on his cage. We think the antibiotics were damaging his kidneys. Maybe keep a good eye on the poop and pee, make sure she is drinking plenty...

Venus is ringing in the new year in her own, inimitable style. Dashiki, indeed! Lol!

Sorry it's still an ongoing issue, Trace, but it's good to see you handling it in good humor nowadays. You're pretty much a veteran when it comes to ekkie egg layers at this point.
