A few days ago I took Lincoln on his first little outting. I had to run to home Depot and petsmart and I thought he'd like to get out of the house for a little because he's been a little antsy since I had been a bit busier than usual since a friend was visiting from out of town so we were out and about. Anyways, so I loaded him into the car with a couple towels encase he pooped anywhere and he did really well. At first he kept trying to climb over to me but I wasn't comfortable having him in my arm/should while trying to drive so I kept putting him back. He eventually got the idea that I wanted him to stay there and he just stared out the window. I was a bit worried about taking him into home depot because I wasn't sure if they'd let me but while in the parking lot I saw lots of people exiting with their dogs so that gave me confidence and I went in. Lots of people had to do a double take and the employees loved him. Next stop was petsmart and people loved him even more. I was able to get him a view toys that I knew he'd enjoy somewhat since he picked at them a little, one of them is already halfway gone and I've seen him picking at the other. He also went after my ear buds... silly bird. He was a bit scared but he did a lot better than I thought he would. He didn't poop the entire time though which worries me because I don't want him to hold is poop and become constipated or something (is that even possible?) So it all came out once I got him back to somewhere familiar which left me with a little mess to clean up...

Congrats on Lincoln's first outing! I'm glad it went so well.

Yeah, sometimes they'll hold off on pooping until they're back somewhere they feel secure. Hopefully he'll start to feel more relaxed as he gets more used to traveling all about. He'll probably be pooping all over your shirt in public in no time! Hahaha!

One thing, though. You might want to either invest in a perch that can be more securely fixed to the seat, or keep him in a travel cage for the extent of the car ride. A bird flapping about after tumbling from an unsecured perch can be dangerous for everyone.

That said, though... what a sweet pic of him! He seems so happy.

Yeah I've been wanting to get one of those really nice carriers, I've just been saving up. Are there any perches made for being attached to a car seat or whatever?

Al (Wrench13) made Amy a real nice one from PVC pipe and twine that I bungie chord around the front passenger seat ( I have leather buckets)
and it works AWESOME...I'll post a picture for you in a bit.

If this is big enough for Amy to sit and ride comfortably I'm sure it would be great for Lincoln...I don't know how much he paid for the PVC though..has to be a lot cheaper than a store bought one!

With a 'zon being bigger than an ekkie..you can see your little boy would have plenty of room to turn around and his tail wouldn't rub against the seat. Amy loves it..I have to scold her though to keep her from gnawing the twine lol..that's for her lil feetsies to have a grip incase of sudden braking :rolleyes:
BTW..I love the pic of Lincoln lol...he does have a look of happiness on his face :p

Chicken absolutely loves going to Petsmart. I take her with the intention of letting her pick out a new toy, but she just likes going because she knows the people at the register will give her piece of a dog biscuit. I know it's not necessarily good for her, but how can I deny her such a simple pleasure? Plus how could I drive home if she is trying to eat my face instead because I wouldn't let her have a treat?
