Ok, so we had our first bath. I wasn't a little hesitant because I didn't want to regress if she didn't like it. I wheeled the cage onto the patio and sprayed her down. From what I can tell, she loved it! She was doing her Stevie Wonder dance and everything. Hopefully this will keep her from picking. Although, I did look at the end of the feathers and they don't seem to be tattered or torn, so I think it's normal preening.

So, I'm guessing that there is a Thread about your Parrot over preening or molting or something like that?

Generally, a first bath is done with a misting bottle spraying up into the air and letting it fall lightly down upon the Parrot. Not heard of too many people have great success with 'spraying her down.' But happy to hear that she enjoyed it!

I'll use the hose on mist setting in the outside aviary at times. They enjoy that too. There are also preening sprays you may look into.

I'm going to get a shower perch for valentine (my galah). I let him stand on the door of shower for the first time this morning and it went well. Not too much water hit him there but a little did. He had his eyes closed and seemed to like it.

It was a spray bottle. I just did it outside 😀

yay for dancing at bathtime!
i'm a little jealous. duke just hunkers down and closes his eyes.

Wrangler does the hunker down in the shower too...but he doesnt avoid it so I take it that he likes it, as opposed to the spray in the kitchen sink or outside in his cage with the hose on mist---both of which he hates. Why the sink sprayer is different than the shower, i have nooooo idea, but in his mind it's torture. I'd love to see him dance but he's just not expressive in that way. I got wingercizing today for the first time in ages.

How do I post videos??

Easiest way is to upload them to YouTube, then click on the Share tab and copy the url, and then click on the link tab at the top of this site's reply window (the one with an earth icon and a little chain link) and paste the address into the window that appears.
