Some of us here have dealt with scammers some (me) having fallen for them and have become well-versed at spotting suspect ads
Ask for pictures, with a date in the picture, or for them to hold up a strange object if you suspect anything. Of course some you will find and just through looking through a couple pictures can tell they're legit, one of the few upsides of facebook sellers. I opt for a banana personally
personally I'd wait and adopt a rescue. I cant see the point of tying myself to an antisocial bird for the next 40 years just because she's cheaper than breeder babies. The point of a pet parrot is companionship but they have a lifespan 4x that of most dogs. If you arent an experienced parrot owner you're in for a long and possibly unrewarding battle if you think you're going to tame her. Not saying it cant be done, just helping you think through the frustrations of ownership with a bird that wants no part of you. I recently had the opportunity to adopt a bird one of the few birds at the top of my list (not an ekkie) for a very reasonable fee. After meeting the bird at his owners home there was no connection and I left feeling very disappointed but wiser.
