How can I even buy an Eclectus?

Hello! This may seem like an odd question but I've been looking for a female eclectus forever and there are none near me I've looked everywhere. It really sucks to live in a boring area but would it even be possible for me to somehow get a female eclectus?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Not odd at all, ekkies are not as common as other species. Shipping by air to your location may be possible. I have never done so but many feel comfortable with this practice. This of course rules out the potential for personal contact pre-purchase.

Do you live in an area with scheduled airline service?

Massachusetts :)

There is a very reputable breeder here in Connecticut, been in business over 38 years with ALL SORTS of birdies...I got BB my cockatiel from them.

They have a website Parrot and Company I believe. They are in Stamford.

What!?!

If that was true, there are a ton of us that have been having long discussions with ourselves! That said, most bird people consider themselves crazy, so its fine and considered normal.

The point is that good people are responding and manners would ask that you at least use the 'THANKS' button.

"I think when I try to reply I'm talking to myself." Well, that to some level is the reality of this type of communication. Two people, face to face and speaking and exchanging words, etc... It is far more 'real world,' because it is!

FYI: What do you consider a place that is not Boring? There are a ton of people that would likely disagree with you regarding Massachusetts being boring! I'm out in fly-over country, at the moment the din level is near zero.

Also: There is a major international and national group in the greater City York City area. Add that one and the one listed above and that is two major players in your general area. Not sure what and how you are searching, but!

Do you know of any breeders that ship ekkies fast at a good price?

you should be taking your time, no reason to be impatient. if you are impatient over the idea of getting a bird you should take a step back and reevaluate your wishes. You usually will not get a parrot from a breeder same day. It is a process that can take months.

fast? at a good price? Why the hurry? will a week or a month make that much difference? This is a 40+ year commitment, it's essential to get it right. It's important to get a baby that is fully weaned and ready---pushing it will only end up damaging the bird emotionally. There are any number of sites that post breeders with birds by species and good number of them ship. Good price is relative. How long has the breeder been in business? What is their reputation? Do they offer any health guarantees? Do they offer support after the sale? Is the bird pure or mixed subspecies? Can they document this? How much "people-time" does the bird get daily. What other interactions and stimulation does it get? Just like puppy mills, there are bird mills too. There is generally only a few hundred dollar spread in the price of SI babies...a few dollars extra to get the right bird is a small investment over the next 40 years. If "cheap" is a requirement, maybe you should be looking for a different bird?

Parrots are not something you run off and buy in a tear, lots of thought needs to be given.
