I was so busy celebrating my own birthday yesterday that I neglected to put up a thread for my boy Jolly, who shares a hatch/birthday with me! So here's to Jolly, AKA Mister Jay, AKA Barry Allen, AKA The Green Blur!

HAPPY 4TH HATCHDAY, JOLLY!!!

If I'd only snapped this one a fraction of a second later! He was just starting to stretch his wings! So beautiful when you catch a sight of that blue fully unfurled!

On behalf of Sir Jolly, thanks everyone!

Jolly was around a year and a half when he came into our lives, and I was utterly devastated over the loss of Bixby at the time. When Laura (Labell) first asked me about taking Jolly into my family I had to think long and hard on it. She'd said that I'd lost my "heart bird" and that while Jolly could never replace him, she knew he'd eventually inhabit a different place in my heart. Different, but no less important.

I'm so very glad I listened.

I still miss Bixby with all of my heart, but Jolly has now become an integral part of my family as well. And in his own way, a tribute to the legacy that Bixby started.

Thanks again, everyone!

Poor Jolly, has to share Dad's Birthday! Kind of like one of those Poor Kids that are born on Christmas Day -or- one day either way. Something else steals center stage!

But, somehow I just do not think that happens at your home! :D

Happy Belated Hatchday, Jolly!!!

Thanks again, everyone! Yeah, hard to grab center stage from Sir Jolly. He steals the show every time! Lol!

As part of Jolly's extended birthday week celebration, I made a batch of Cheat Chop for him and Maya both. Why is it Cheat Chop? Because I've allowed a far greater emphasis on fruits than I usually would. (Usually only one type of fruit. Two at the most.) This time I allowed it to be closer to 50/50. A 3-day batch of borderline decadence won't hurt, though. Lol!

So, for veggies they had fennel, carrots and assorted bell peppers. And for fruits they had pomegranates, dragonfruit and starfruit. Here is the fruit of my labors:

The offering was quite enthusiastically accepted!

Tonight I'll throw in some star anise and hibiscus as well.

Wow that really looks good. Yes go on spoil that birthday boy!

You are able to present in a much chunkier way than I can Plum, well if I don't want it flung back at me anyway.

Oh, yeah. They all have their peculiarities. Bixby, for instance, only ate his carrots grated. Let me try to come at him with a carrot chunk or slice! He would lob it across the room with a definite air of disgust! And yeah, he'd often tag me with it! Lol!
