Lulu is great! She is so perfect and I love her so much! We adopted an eclectus on Monday and she was the nicest thing ever! She jumped on my shoulder, l had her lay down on my hand, and we spent the three days introducing her to the harness and she finally went on her first walk! She is wonderful to have and I made the right decision for sure. Right now as I am typing this she keeps making adorable "hmm?" noises and it is so cute! Unfortunately she won't really 'talk' yet with people around because she is shy, but she keeps waking me up at 5 AM saying "hi!"

I love her so much and I am going to take great care of her. The one thing that worries me though is that the earliest I can see the avian vet for a checkup is in 2 weeks. Is that okay? Other than that I am extremely happy. I love her a lot.

Oh my goodness she is beautiful! Only three days to harness train, too?! I'm so jealous!

I'm *guessing* that if she's not showing any signs of illness it should be fine to wait until your CAV has an opening but I am no expert.

Thanks for sharing a picture.

I don't believe she is showing any signs of illness! Is being quiet a sign? She's been really nice and I haven't noticed anything obvious. Also your ekkie is so cute too!!!

I think female ekkies are possibly the most striking bird that exists. What’s Lulu’s history?

What a cutie! Congratulations!

You’re fine to wait 2 weeks before going to the vet. As was said before, it’s not a emergency unless it’s an actual emergency :)

More pictures please!

Oh and it’s thehalloween season. Don’t be afraid to get her a miniature pumpkin or seasonal gourd to shred and eat (yes, those white/green/orange/you name it decorative pumpkins are perfectly edible). Bake on 350F for 15 minutes, let cool, and serve.

I have said this many times...and I'll probably say it many more...I just LOVE an Ekkies face! ;)
LuLu is beautiful!

As far as LuLu being "quiet" she has been with you only a few days. All of the FIDS that have ever owned me,took a little time to "open up". Don't be too concerned at her being quiet for now.
Happy to hear you do have an appointment to have her looked at soon.

and as previously mentioned...WE NEED MORE PICTURES!!!

So your first vet visit ( and it should be to a Avian Certified Vet, not just a dog and cat vet) is to establish what her base line vitals are, think of it as a wellness visit. This way if she starts showing signs of anything amiss, the vet will know what her vitals were when she was feeling good. Lulu looks to be in fine feather. Just remember Ekkies need a special diet, slightly different from other specieis, to stay healthy. THere are lots of different diets on the Ekkkie subforum.

Glad to see you got an ekkie. They're known for being relatively quiet (compared to other parrots) so be careful what you wish for! A neighbor of mine has been offered a bird for free---being rehomed because it talks too much. Im hoping she has the good sense to pass! She travels a good bit and I know she's eyeing me as the bird sitter next door.
