I have just now realized that in four years of life (oh how it sneaks up on you), Zephyr has tried many a food - but never apple sauce! I myself am a big fan, and as such like to stock it around the house. Obvious solution? Give him some!
It's 100% organic, just apples, water, vitamin C, so it's pretty safe for him, and he didn't get a lot.
The camera quality is pretty awful, but now you can see a (short) video of him trying to figure out how to eat from a spoon.

Ah that’s adorable!

As far as safe, it’s not toxic but it’s not great. Absolute junk food. Especially for an ekkie the added sugar content and added vitamins are health issues. Sugar longer term, vitamins much shorter term. But as you note, it’s just a little. And a little nip here and there on occasion as a small treat likely won’t hurt anything :).

I’m usually a big stickler for non-fortified, low sugar food. Just last night however I indulged Parker in a couple bits of lucky charms (the whole grain part, not the marshmallow). When you do it thoughtfully and not out of habit, a little bit of junk food on rare occasions won’t hurt anything.
