Yoshi is obsessed with my brother

So, Yoshi, my male ekkie, seems to be in love with my brother.

He only see's him maybe 3 times a week for an hour or so but won't leave his side and starts screaming like mad if he leaves him even for a second. When my brother is there he completely ignores me and my wife and will growl at us if we ask him to step up while he is next to my brother. Not only that, my normally talkative bird becomes mute next to my brother. He even plays with his beard.

It is a curious situation as my brother doesn't really like animals and in fact always treated Yoshi really bad. He would pull his tail and throw him across the room for kicks and giggles and although initially Yoshi didn't like him one day he just flicked a switch and even if he doesn't see my brother for a month he never forgets him.

Can anyone explain this behaviour?

You may have read or seen discussion regarding allowing a Parrot to choose it's Human. This discussion and advice is commonly provided to individuals who are looking for Parrot! If you have never seen this before, this is what it looks like.

Commonly, the Parrot, once in a stable home will develop a closer relationship with one or more of the members of the home, i.e. a bonded relationship is formed. Even in such cases, the Parrot can come across someone that the chemistry just clicks! Even if the choice to us does not make any sense! These tend to happen during the Hormonal (mating) Season and 'may' occur less during other parts of the year.

I am guessing that your comments regarding your brother are provided as an indicator of possible actions and not real life actions. If you truly believe that your brother would do such things, a discussion regarding what you would do to your brother, if such ever did happen, needs to occur.

Your next question is likely, how do you change the actions of your Parrot! Time and extensive interaction to create a functioning bond between the three of you needs to be expanded!

The ways of the heart and chemistry can be just so confusing.
