No one who has actively posted has advertised as owning one. They are very hard today and cost as much as a new car. jC avoary does actively post sometimes they have blue ekkies available. So the Ekkie is a tiny bit easier to get than the amazon.

But not by much.

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
I saw an advertisement featuring a blue CAG one day.
(that was obviously a fake/ messed with bird)
CAGfeathers turn blue-ish when they come into contact with oil- not good for the birds so dont!.

Blue CAG's do exist... just like Blue Cockatiels do. However, the birds are not *physically* blue to our eyes.

Howard Voren is dead and I believe his collection has been sold off to other breeders? Could be wrong. (wrong about where his collection has gone)

Neither mutation is really popular enough for the general public to have these birds has pets at this time. They are mainly kept with breeders who are trying to improve the line/create more mutations.

Blue Amazons are Hybrid by crossbreeding specific Amazons that to not have common overlapping natural ranges. They are very rare in the Companion Parrot Market and just as commonly, expensive. In today's real World, they would be a Class I CITES parrot and would require extensive knowledge in assuring that the Parrot you maybe looking at is very well documented and the paperwork is very transparent.

IMHO, this Hybrid Class of Parrots should be avoided by non-professionals /non-experienced individuals in buying high-end Parrots as the likelihood of obtaining a standard parrot with a slight colour shift is very possible. Hence paying tens of thousand of dollars for a Parrot worth at most a couple of thousand.

I seem to have forgotten how many amazons have a blue mutation! There's also supposedly a blue mutation blue fronted amazon! One thing is for sure, if they were hybrids, they would have to be multi-gen hybrids and the distinct colors of the different species would probably be a lot muddier...

Thank-you MonicaMc. Your list of some of the Amazons that exist with Blue Mutations in the wild is greatly appreciated. When the OP switched to a specific Mutation, it caused me to question the underlining need or want for this Thread as Photos abound on the Web: "Iā€™m just wondering if anyone on here has a blue Eclectus are a blue Amazon because Iā€™ve never seen anyone that has either one here if you have one please put pictures on here"

That is not the species that you asked about, as you clearly stated: "blue Amazon." You are correct regarding Blue Yellow-Naped Amazons. The species is classified as a 'mutation' and although Classified by CITES as Class I, same ownership requirements as stated earlier. They are not a Classed Species in and of themselves, but are a Mutation under the Classification, Yellow-Naped Amazona.

I am fascinated by the mutation species -- the Blue Yellow Naped Amazon and Blue mutation Eclectus are dream birds of mine! If I ever had the money, I would ansoultey splurge and post million so pictures of them here. There's also some incredible silver mutation Blue and Gold Macaws, White mutation Scarlet Macaws.

However, those price tags are a kick in the pants. $22k for Eclectus, I've seen around $30-$35k for the BYN Amazon.... I can dream.

When I get mine, I'll let you know! ;)

"Silver" could be a few different mutations.... it could describe Blue - Blue and Golds, Blue Opaline Blue and Golds or Blue Scarlet Macaws. Talk about confusing!!!

I kind of love the Blue Opaline B&G's personally! Which seems kind of silly, because a Blue Opaline B&G is close to the coloration of a Blue Scarlet... but I'm not interested in the Blue Scarlets!
