Simple at that question above!
Background, my partner likes whistling to Cairo. Cairo does see it as my partner's unique call for Cairo. He's been trying to get Cairo to whistle back, and Cairo has been practicing quite a bit, receiving treats whenever he does whistle.
I just worry because sometimes I hear the wind pass through his vocal chords (without making a whistling sound) - it seems that sometimes he strains to whistle. And all of today, he's just mostly whistling successfully. But at the same time, the standard ekkie call isn't so high-pitched, but more in the range of standard human speaking.
Coming from a music background, I know straining your vocal chords is never good in the long run. Just wondering if he genuinely is straining to reach the high pitch whistling sounds and potentially damaging his vocal chords just to please us. Or if he's perfectly fine and I'm just a worry-wart.
