I’m back. After losing Venus over 2 years ago I was heartbroken. Buddy my GCA and Buzz my CAG, have been my focus but Venus was my best, bossy, sweetest and most annoying buddy. It was a hard loss. I thought about getting another female ekkie but I was worried I’d try to make her Venus. Well last weekend my boss sent me a posting on FB, a friend of hers was looking to rehome a 5 yo female ekkie. Saw pics, healthy, very socialized so I reached out.
First time parrot owners, bought her as an egg, hatch date 9/24/15. They said they don’t have to spend with her and we’re looking to rehome her, not even asking for a rehoming fee. I took the plunge, drove 10 hours to Oklahoma, met her and the little stinker grabbed my finger, pulled my hand to me and hopped on. Got on my shoulder, examined me intensely, she stole my heart. They sent her, the cage, food and toys. I felt like they were too happy to see her go lol! Loaded her up, graciously took the seed , pellet, worms and millet and took her to the hotel. Tossed the seed, went and got some fresh squash, raspberries and mixed with her pellets. She didn’t eat much as expected. Put her in one of my travel cages, put her in the backseat and we are still driving home.
Here pics. First she is molting but looking at the pattern I’m concerned there may be some plucking. She’s not bald anywhere, and she is HORMONAL! She’s trying to mate with me so she has a double wammy. When we get home all three fids are getting their chop. I can’t wait to get her home and settled. Her name is JoJo, we aren’t changing it, she knows it and it’s one of her favorite words. I’m so excited!
