I'll go first. This is why you shouldn't eat in the dark lol.

I picked up what I thought was a bit of food I dropped and put it in my mouth.

I immediately noticed something was wrong. I spit it out and turned on the light.

I bet someone is already thinking what it was.

Yep.

It was

Bird poop

I just go around wiping fresh poops off cage skirts/perches or other spots with my fingers like ALL the time. To me it's easier if I see a poop that would be hard to scub off later to just get that sucker now with my finger and wash it off instead of use a wet wipe or other paper products. I've even caught a wayward poop in my hands if it was going to end up on the carpet or somewhere else unsavory. Am I the only one?

Nope definitely not I have bit the bullet and caught the odd poop. Even the mornings monster when she flew off instead of going potty on her papers that was pretty gross but not as bad as eating it. May I ask what did it taste like?

It’s all about the poop.

Hands in poop all the time.

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Poopcatching is a sport (my lower back is not playing nice these days, lol, I sound like a granny!) but everything I catch before it hits the floor... I do not need to scoop up later.

And lets be honest: warm poop feels less yucky than cold ;)
(to me anyway)

I'm a poop catcher, guilty as charged. I tend to really get odd looks from non-bird people when I reach over and catch a poop mid conversation without a pause. Would you rather I interrupt our conversation to go in the other room, get wipes, and get down on the floor to wipe it out of the carpet while you watch?

Yes, Rb poop is a big part of my lifestyle. Never ate it, to my knowledge but I'm sure I
ingest part or parcel now and then. I have a friend who ate cockatiel poop once and said it tasted like cardboard or paper, like when you bite open a box of candy or bite a tag off of a small item after you purchase it.

In my thinking, warm poop is equally gross to cold poop.

Poop, poop, poop.

To this tune...
Everybody now!

Yes, and I reiterate, it is all about the poo.

Should start a thread "Poo Chronicles."

A great idea! We could share images of our "bird clothes" permanently scarred by holes, missing buttons, and yes, poo stains!

I confess, I come home from work on put on my "poop clothes". My two youngest have no qualms about pooping on me, so until they are trained I wear the same T-shirt for 2-3 days. My laundry runneth over otherwise.

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
My bird is pretty "potty trained" (unless scared, but I didn't really work to teach her this--she just knows where she goes and avoids going anywhere else if she isn't on a true perch). Anyway, as I was walking her back to her cage, she got spooked by something and I saw the classic puff/ butt lift, so out goes my hand (catching a giant, warm, Umbrella Cockatoo-sized poo---did I mention it was bath day?! --and I have carpeting) LOL...I had to carry it (trying to contain it within my hand) as I took her back to her cage, before walking to the trash/sink...The sad thing is, the nastiness of this choice didn't even dawn on my until afterwards, when I thought, what has this relationship come to!? lol

I also often eat with her perched nearby and many people can't stand the look of her poops...I could watch it all day and feel nothing lol. Food tastes the same whether or not I am eating with a pooping parrot 3 feet away.

Never ate it that I know of, but she likes to poop on the arms of the chairs and one time I didn't notice that I put my hand in it and then I wiped it on my face. Lovely.

I can’t even count the amount of gross things I’ve put in/near my mouth thanks to the fids (poop included)! Even though most people probably don’t consider this gross, I hate when I have to eat any raw vegetable to show them it’s not poisonous. Just yesterday I licked my iPad screen to show Bluebell how to play on it (weird, but it worked). Also, the memory of Leo’s first regurgitation directly into my talking mouth still lingers to this day... :p

Not eating but catching like most birds' owner here... :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Everyone of us here is a "Professional Poop Catching" :35: :D

After having a child, bird's poop is nothing if you clean it few times a day.

For those who has kid, know exactly of what I mean.. :D

So when we have people over for dinner and we eat in the dining room (i.e. not where the bird cages or the big tree is) we have to wheel in 4 giant cages to the dining room or else they would scream their ever living heads off and also because we love them. I do clean the cages really well before people come over but all 4 of them do poop in the cages whilst we're eating dinner...of course and of course I hold them and such during dinner and since they're all potty trained I asked them "do you need to go poopy" before I pick them up and of course they poop...while everyone is eating and listening to all of this. So yeah...want to come over for dinner sometime? Lol.

My ex-cockatiel Kang became egg-bound, naturally when the vet was closed (my guys always have their health crises outside regular business hours) and there was nothing for it but for me to massage her bum with olive oil to try and help her pass the egg. Which happily she did, followed by a massive poop:) Non-bird people wouldn’t understand, but both Kang and I were much relieved and very happy:)
