This is my beloved Yellow Collared Macaw, Gus. This is the most recent photo I have of him, and I'm wondering if his beak is getting too long. I'm not sure what length is appropriate.

Here is what I currently have available to him to chew on in his cage and during out time: wooden sticks (hardwood) (1/4inch or less diameter), wooden block toys of varying sizes, shredding toys.

He prefers the shreddable toys and for the most part ignores the wooden block toys. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure if his beak is too long as I've not got much experience with macaws, but for general trimming, a concrete perch might be useful for trimming it down himself as he pulls himself onto it, and he'll rub it as he feels he needs too (just don't have all the perches concrete ^^)

It could be...Mini macaws in general need to be groomed more often than other parrots...Sometimes parts of their beaks even fall off...So you might want to get him groomed, or atleast some special perches like Mayden said.

I don't think so but it does look sharp. My cockatoo gets her beak sharp and will use it against me if given a chance.

Thank you everyone! I do have a concrete perch which helps with his toe nails. I think I might get one for outside of the cage thinking maybe that will entice him to rub his beak on it
