Worried about my Quaker

My quaker sneezed this morning and seemed very uninterested with being out and about with me.. so I thought she might still be tired and I put her back in her cage. When I got home later my husband took her out and she regurgitated on him and seems lethargic and uninterested. She hasn't been vocalizing at all today either.. and it all seems to have started suddenly.. overnight really. Only thing that has changed is she finally ate some fruit yesterday. She had a little mango, a little watermelon and she tried cantaloupe and honeydew.. Could this have something to do with it? I'm planning on taking her to the vet tomorrow unless I learn something new. I love this bird way too much to sit and wait.

Tomorrow could be to late if she is vomiting. I would take her to the Vet ASAP. At best she has eaten something that has upset her or at worst she has a fungal or bac infection which will need antibiotics.

Samantha, in the mean time keep her warm & if she isn't eating see if you can get her to drink some electrolytes, so she doesn't dehydrate.

Good luck Hun.

Well we're back from the vet and looks like she's perfectly fine (blood tests anyway). Vet thinks she has chosen my hubby as her mate since she's regurgitated on him and suggested UV lighting by her cage and to keep offering fresh foods. The vet said she thinks its just behavioral but making sure I cover all the bases in terms of nutrition and environment should also help.

I just offered her steamed carrots and she's taking that. Hopefully she'll be back to her chipper self soon. She already perking up a bit.

Thank you again for your support!

Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
Have certainly had 'crushes' myself that felt like an illness ;) Glad she's okay!
