Hello,

First, we've already scheduled an appointment with our vet ASAP. We'll be going in soon.

In the meantime we're really concerned and wanted to know if anyone has seen this behavior before. We have never seen it.

The video should play automatically. It's of our 5 year old Black-capped conure (Pickle).

If there are problems viewing, I'll try to get it in another format, or upload to youtube.

Please let us know if you've seen this and anything you might know.

Sorry I couldn't view your clip.

But by the sounds of things you have done the right thing making an appointment with your vet. Especially if he has tail bobbing & all fluffed up sitting quiet looking rather sleepy.

I hope all goes well.

Goodness NO I have never seen that behavior.

Is your bird a female & is it mature, if so she could be stressed & maybe trying to lay an egg.

In any case the Vet would hopefully know why your bird is doing this.

That is very strange, this may sound weird, but can birds have panic attacks? That's what it kind of looks like to me. I have a friend that has a rat that has panic attacks. If anything startles him he will start breathing very rapidly and run around like a nut :(

So, everyone is back from the vet. He's "98% sure it's behavioral". Other than this odd spell, the vet said he's the picture of health, and a very sturdy bird.

However, to be sure, we're doing blood work and a gram stain, but he told us there was no need to worry.

I want to express my thanks for the responses! And I'm very glad to be reporting "good news".

Thanks again!!

If I learn anything else that might be relevant, I'll be sure to post!

That's very odd, although he doesn't exactly look sick either. Maybe agitated though.

I took Puck to the vet when he started making a new noise. It turned out that he's become mysteriously afraid of my shower all of a sudden (and runs away from me after I take one), and was reacting to that. XD

I hope everything comes back normal. keep us updated.

I was quite impressed that my new vet was able to run the complete blood panel and gram stain on the spot for me yesterday. I've never gotten service like that for my own blood work!

That is very strange.

At first I thought maybe she was trying to imitate something... but she seems quite panicked. I'd say she's hyperventilating. Is there anything that might have frightened her?
