Is it safe to use a dryer sheet in the heating vent to scent the house? We are trying to look for safe alternatives to candles, sprays, etc. I wondered if dryer sheets are toxic to birds??

Thanks!

I do know they can cause severe reactions in dogs and cats that have allergies or a weakened imune system. With that said , I would tend to think they can be just as or more harmful to a birds delicate system.

I only use dryer sheets in my clothes dryer... and that has never affected my birds...

If birds couldn't handle scents, there wouldn't be many left in the wild, since it's filled with it.

Actually I did a google search and was surprised to read that it's not good for pets or humans! When heated they release a ton of chemicals and since it's not contained to the dryer and circulating the entire house, so I'll just stick with some air fresheners that I found at mysafebirdstore. But thanks for the attitude Lene. It appears as if your sarcasm backfired.......

Except that the wild is filled with natural scents, not man-made chemical scents.

Down at the bottom of the page.
Safe Cleaning & Disinfecting Supplies for Birds. We have F10!

My only recommendation is don't open the air freshener all the way at first. It can be very potent!
