My Lovebird has a bubble on the end of his toe where the toe meets the nail. It is flesh colored and he is in pain. He use to sleep in his coconut but now he sleeps on the bottom of his cage under his papers. He loves it there but never sleeped there before. His appetite is normal. He favors the foot when he walks and when I touched it he sqeaked. :blue2:

A bubble? Is it like a blister, (soft inside), or a wart, (hard)? If he's in pain, a vet visit is best.

Regardless of how he got it, you are going to have to make sure there is no infection, and the only way to do that is to get an antibiotic prescribed by your vet(to my knowledge anyway). He could have gotten it stuck in his cage and sprained or broke the joint, it could have gotten caught on a toy or possible a coconut or other fiber wrapped around it, or like Bill said, it could be a wart or a blister. If he is in pain I wouldn't put it off too long, birds do almost everything with their feet and toes so everything he does at the moment is probably causing him more pain :( keep us updated, hoping for the best of luck for both of you.

Yes, and the vet will probably also give you an anti-inflammatory for pain. But, the only way you will know what it is, and get medications for him is to take him to the vet.

Currently I have a 21 year old Nanday Conure named Frito. I'm looking into adopting a larger bird. I lost my Blue & Gold Macaw many, many years ago & my Goffin's Cockatoo in 2009.
my conure has the same issue & the prescribed antibiotic "Ciprofloxacin" isn't helping, so please let me know if you find out how to proceed! thanks, Mark
