poop count

Sponsored Links
so i've been wondering about something. i don't know if its just me or not.

i've noticed that whenever i feed the birdies zupreem natural, they poop
a lot more than usual, compared to them eating other stuff. the poop is
brown, and healthy, but they do it frequently. is that common?

and on a side note.. i was wondering if anyone knows any more about
this brand and this mix. someone recommended it for me recently and
i've yet to introduce it to my grey Klaus.

Re: poop count

I've been told it can make birds have watery poo, but I don't know about more frequent. Zupreem isn't a very good brand, people often mistake it for the much healthier pellets. Pellets are cooked at a lower temperature that retains more nutrients. The best brands to use for your bird are Harrison's organic pellets which are cheaper than Zupreem, and Feed your flock organ pellets which is much more expensive. Harrison's is available in a lot of avian vet offices and you can also buy it from their website.

Also I have to add, excellent signature

Re: poop count

Harrison's is organic, but my vet has no problem at all with my conure eating Zupreem. And after being on it for a decade, she is the picture of health. As for does she poop more? I honestly wouldn't be able to say after all this time. But, being a conure, she poops much more often than large birds do anyway. The smaller the bird, the more frequent the poops it seems.

Re: poop count

thanks for the replies. good bird food is, or was, very hard to come by in my country
until just recently. i only managed to get 2 harrison's pellet packs about 2 years ago,
from the vet, until they just stopped selling them. don't know why. after that i tried
looking for another brand of pellets and got all my birds on animalzone's petline
pellets, which was the only other brand i could barely find. it's been a loooong while
now, but all the shops that sell it haven't stocked up any more. the only other thing
i can find now is zupreem (which i might add was just recently brought into the
country coz i never saw it anywhere else before). i managed to get my birds into
it and they eat it just fine.

as for ordering online.... i can't get any food delivered into the country. it's illegal.

Re: poop count

I'm quite sure Zupreem combined with fruits and veggies and other healthy stuff is fine.

Re: poop count

No, but the cells in fresh food are always a bit better. It is a complete feed though. I also think the birds enjoy getting something each day other than just pellets.

Re: poop count

Re: poop count

My conure is the healthiest bird here, but my amazon was on seeds with his former owner and has a ways to go in recovering from that, and Merlin has an underlying disease. But, Merlin has always been on Harrison's and her feathers and beak are healthy and all her bloodwork is good. So are the conure's.

So I have birds eating some of each. Both the conure and the Grey are healthy from eating good diets; one on Harrison's and one on Zupreem.
