Im just curious if there's anything wrong with Kia having a little bit of ice cream. Vanilla of course. I took my kids to get ice cream last nite. I had a small vanilla cone. So I walk past Kia's cage (she's ontop) and she goes nuts trying to get to me. I go over to see what she wants and it was the cone. I let her taste the ice cream and I never seen her enjoy something so much lol. She LOVED it. She didnt want anything to do with the cone past, just the ice cream.

My question is, is ice cream ok in moderation?

Birds don't have the ability to properly process dairy, and while a little dairy, such as milk, can be alright, you have to consider ice cream has other things in it. It usually has sugar, that isn't good for them, and depending on the flavor, some can be potentially toxic.
So I would avoid it

Yes ice cream has all kinds of unnatural ingredients in it plus sugar which is bad for them.
And for future reference, if you don't know if it is bad for them, don't give it to them. Always look it up to see if it is safe or not before you give them some.

No no, I didn't want it come off like I thought you were irresponsible, I was just saying we all have to be very careful as to what we give our parrots. A taste of ice cream isn't going to kill her but other things might so we have to be extra careful.;)

Hey Lesal, Most of the ice cream is made of milk unsuitable for a parrot diet that affects your pet's digestive system and other serious issues.
In my advice, if you want to share the ice cream with a parrot, it should be homemade without sugar and other artificial ingredients.
If you want more brief information about this topic then check this blog about can parrots eat ice cream

One of the cutest things iv seen was a little girl eating an ice cream while a rosella perched on her hand and ate some.
Unfortunately our birds don't have the digestive systems that we do and dairy products should be avoided as some people have already pointed out.
