That is a good question. With something like this I would ask my avian vet because there are 2 kinds of herpes simplex virus. You want to be sure so I would not take someone's say so on any bird forum. Meantime I would isolate myself from the bird as much as you can. Birds do get Herpes virus and it can cause several medical conditions.
