I found a bird in my yard. I dont know if it's dehydrated or what. I gave it a couple drops of watered down gatorade. It let me pick it up, so I put it in a bowl with a towel, some hay, and some seed. It cant walk, very wobbly. It's just sitting with it's eyes closed. Does open it's eyes tho. Here are 2 pics i took.

Well it looks like a robin from my research. Im calling the humane society in the am because Im not sure what to do with it. They eat worms, grubs, ect. It has perked up a little bit.

Awwww , it looks like a baby Robin. It won't eat the seeds though.
PM IcyWolf , she is really great with baby birds , Im sure she can help you help this baby fledge. Since it is pretty much all feathered , you have a good chance of seeing this one recover and fly off. But do give Icy a PM and see what she says to do.

I think calling the wildlife place in the morning is a great idea. Baby paserines don't eat at night so if it's healthy, it should be okay until morning. Baby birds will usually spend a couple days on the ground before they actually fledge, the mom will still come down to the baby and feed it until it flies on it's own. Definitely call the wildlife place though, it's illegal to have robbins in captivity unless you have a wildlife permit so you don't want to hold on to him any longer than you have to. Good luck, I hope all goes well :)

Don't pick up baby birds - they might be just starting to fly, and their parents will be nearby to supervise and feed them...

Until you sort out what to do with it, feed it canned dog food from a pair of tweezers. It needs protein. Mealy worms and wild berries can also be given. It won't need water if it eats any of the above and definitely no seeds. Good luck!

Just to follow up. You still have time to return the bird outside. It's a fledgling. The mother will be calling and it will answer by peeping. Just need to find a sheltered spot, not in the open, close to where you found it.

Yes babies will be on the ground just before fledging. Unless hurt or in danger, you should just let them be.

If you only had it a short time , why not put it back where you found it .
The momma is probably calling for it. Hopefully he didn't leave thinking the worst.
I would see what happens if you put the baby back and watch it. If the momma doesn't come back in a respectable time , take it to the wildlife center. JMO

It was a hurt bird. I found it yesterday morning in my garden. I didnt bother with it all day but i did keep checking on it. It couldnt walk. It kept falling on it's face and to the side. I think it was a hurt foot. I didnt bother with it until yesterday evening after watching it struggle all day and not seeing the mama bird anywhere. My deck is just above the garden so I was able to watch without actually bothering with it or interfereing. I left it in the little bowl on the deck just in case the mama bird was callig for it. She would have been able to get to it. I did take the seed out and tried giving some canned cat food (tuna). I read they will eat that. He wouldnt take it. Sad to say the poor thing didnt make it thru the night. Looks like it just laid down on the towel I put in the bowl and went to sleep. Thanks for all the advice.

Oh Im sorry :( You did all the right things honey and you gave it a safe place to rest.
It could have been grabbed by another bird or animal. So sad :(
At least it died peacefully and felt the warm touch of a caring human being.
