My holistic doctor also treats animals (including birds), so I am going to take him with me to my appointment tomorrow and have him looked at. He seems healthy, but I haven't had the money for a checkup for him since I got him. He DID spend a week in a vet's office before I took him home, although I don't think she ran any tests on him.

I do plan on taking him to a regular avian vet when I have the money, but it's been an expensive semester for me. I'm running upwards of $1500 in my own medical bills for the last few months, including a mystery abdominal pain last week. $400 later, ALL of the test came back NORMAL, even though I felt like I might die. And my car is toast and I need to get a new one (thank you, student loans). Did I mention that my income is less than half of what it was, so I can take classes? Fortunately, Darcy does appear to be healthy, even if I'm not.

I wish I had thought to take Puck to my doctor also. She has ways of finding problems before they become serious (since all of his tests were normal), and I wonder if she could have discovered whatever got him, before it got him. I love Darcy, but I still do miss Puck, and I think about him a lot.

Also, since I have been seeing my favorite doctor for about 10 years now, she gives me 50% off visits for me and close friends/family!

I'm so sorry to hear about your stomach problems. By your description the pain must be awful! I truly hope you get better ASAP. And sorry to hear about your car as well. Gosh, so many bad things happening at once. :(

Please let us know how you and Darcy make out with your holistic doctor. I wish you a very speedy recovery - and that your luck changes immediately. :)

Thank you. Even though I am feeling better (also, I got a cold after the pain started to get better), I think my body is pretty run down. This semester has had a LOT of outside stresses. When it rains, it pours, I guess.

I think Darcy is healthy, but I figure it's worth checking out, especially since I am going in already.

His socialization is going pretty well too. The first time I took him out in public, he was really freaked out and scared. Now, he is stepping up for almost everyone, and gets excited when there are new people to meet! I took him to an estate sale last week after buying a stained glass thing of a parrot, and he got all excited and started squawking and bouncing around. :-D

Hang in there, the semester is almost over. ;)

Sorry for your abdominal pain. I know what it's like to experience high amounts of pain, even though I'm only eleven I had to get a root canal because the tooth was chipped. Omg I was literally crying from the pain before the treatment . I couldn't eat without high amounts of pain, and this wasn't your normal pain either. It felt like somebody made a hole in my tooth and was twisting a knife in they're , If you had to get a root canal you know what I mean. The nerve was so damaged by the bacteria that it was dead . We all experience a bad period of time but after that it's sunshine and canarys ! I hope Darcy is healthy !

Today I took Darcy to work briefly when I picked up my paycheck, and then to our doctor appointment. He wasn't as excited to be handled by strangers this time, but he allowed it. He even sat on my doctor's shoulder the whole time, although I could tell he wanted to come back to me. He sat on her assistant's shoulder for a while too, when we needed him to not be on either of us, haha. And he let another patient hold him. He always wanted to come back to me after a little bit though. Awww <3

She says that he seems very healthy! She did do a (very gentle) chiropractic adjustment on him, which he apparently needed. For the most part he wasn't crazy about it, but she hit one spot on his neck, and his face got all happy fluffy. Then he didn't want her there anymore, lol. He doesn't like it when I pet him on his back, and she was thinking that maybe that could be why. So far he's let me do it since I got home from work, but it might just be a coincidence. I'll see how he is tomorrow. I just thought he didn't like being pet on the back or having his feathers ruffled or being preened, despite being super affectionate toward me; it never occurred to me that it might be uncomfortable physically for him. He always preens me, but never lets me preen him. I sure hope I can start petting him more soon.

Birdlover11 - A root canal! I think you were in more pain than me, for sure. That was nerve pain! I mean, I was having organ pain, so I was worried, but it was nothing like real nerve pain. One time I slammed my finger in the car door and severed a little bit of the nerve on the tip of my finger. Now THAT was nerve pain! I became nauseated, and had to lay down, otherwise I would have fallen down! My finger is fine now, and I regained feeling, but WOW it hurt! I can only imagine what you went through.

By the way, you are very articulate for your age. :)

Sorry to hear about your money problems and your health problems! :( I hope things look up for you Remy, I think we all go through those tough times, and they aren't easy, but hang in there.

Glad to hear that the vet visit went well! Interesting about his back too!
