My mom dropped a pot and it made a pretty loud noise. Zora got startled and before I could stop her she flew. She's a pretty great flyer, but it was so sudden she went towards a window. She knows it's there, and she slowed down a bit before she got there. She landed on the sill but she hit her beak and I think her side against the glass. She seems fine after a very thorough examination, just a bit rattled. But I think I'm just overreacting, probably. She's hopping around and chirping. So am i simply just overreacting? Thank you...

Dondt worry too much about it!! If she is acting as normal, then I think she is fine:) They have pretty strong beaks.

I worry about the GW's breaking the glass:rolleyes: They constantly fly to our storm door if the front door is open. ;)

I wouldn't worry if your birdie is acting fine. When Rosie was learning how to be coordinated in flight she had several run in's with the sliding glass door, each time was terrifying for me but she was always ok if only a little out of breath and scared.

Things can go wrong in an instant and they can be critically injured by hitting glass. I would hang opaque mesh or white sheets about a foot in front of the window weighed down on the bottom so it gives resistance. It's kinda like a birdie helmet or air bag and works like a charm.

Wharfrat, they haven't demolished it yet?!

Copperarabian: We have thin white curtains and my little brother puts several truck stickers on the glass , and every month and a half or so I repeatedly show them the glass is solid. Usually her ideal 'startled' landing spot is the kitchen counter, but that was where the pot fell so she went in the opposite direction. I may have to try that. :)

It's been about a week now and I've been keeping a really close eye (I freak out ) and she seems absolutely fine, though I have kept our blinds down, and re-showed her the solid window. Just as energetic as always, and her flying has improved! She's even doing laps across our kitchen and living room area! :D
