My lorikeet just started panting and breathing very heavily. I offered him some water but he wasn't interested. I'm really scared for him because I'm scared it's a disease. He is young but I don't know exactly how old because we rescued him from the wild. He is handtame. What should I do? Do I take him to the vet!? Thankyou

Yes, take him to the vet. This should be done anyway as a new bird to help rule out any problems. I understand you rescued him from the wild but if you plan on keeping him and not re-releasing him the Lorikeet should see a Avian qualified and knowledge vet.

Please update us as to how he is doing.

Take him to the emergency vet, I don't know any diseases that have panting, maybe respitory ?

Heat stroke produces panting. And I would definately suspect respiratory difficulty.
