hi there, im new to this forum and keeping birds so please bear with me. Ive had a pair of kakaweekis for about 3 months and everything was going fine untill we decided to let them out. This was not the first time we have done this so i was suprised when the male flew into our frontroom wall. Hes injured his right wing and his left foot, immediatly we phoned the rspcb. They told us to seperate him from the female for a week and his injuries will get better. Sadly they have not, does anyone have any thoughts on what i should do, or any advice before i take him to see a vet.

Hmm ... I have a couple curiosities about this situation, but neither one of them are relevant to my answer to your question: NO, I have no advice on what you should do before you take him to see a vet as that is the first thing you should do.

A vet visit need not be expensive. If it turns out to be nothing then the visit should be very cheep. If it turns out that there is real damage it may be expensive to patch him up, but if that's the case I suspect you'd want to.

Potentially sick birds can be expensive to diagnose or determine wellness, but if injury not illness is suspected the vet should be able to make determinations much easier.

Now my curiosities:
1) That advice from the 'rspcb' does not sound wise. Was this the RSPCA or the RSCB, or is there really a RSPCB as well? Never heard of them.
2) Speaking of things I've never heard of - what the heck is a kakaweeki? I couldn't find anything online for that either.

hi, i think it was the rspca. A kakaweeki is a small green parakeet with a red head the female is a light shade of green. Thankyou for your comments.
