I've gotten into a bit of bother with my family over this, I told them not to use it cause Tefal stuff can kill birds, I've shown proof of what Tefal can do, but cause there isn't a case involving the Actifry, they don't seem to be listening to me, so my question is it safe to use around Peaches? and are there any cases involving the Actifry, if its unsafe? This is the only way I think they will listen, I'm worried, Peaches will die from nobody in the house listening to me and its so annoying, cause I know who I'll blame for the death of my parrot.

Well it has a Teflon pan, what more do you need?

Tried explaining all that, my older brother who knows nothing about birds, has said "nothing will happen".... I think I need to reprint out the dangers, and masking tape all over the Actifry until I am listened too and thie papers has been read and placed in the families mind.

I would move out if I could, but my mum is my carer, so it's a little difficult.

There was an item on the news last night regarding a new study suggesting teflon should be avoided during pregnancy, and even before that a good friend of mine decided to get rid of her teflon pans when she became pregnant, so I think there is a slowly growing realization that it may not be the greatest thing to have in the home.

Regarding your situatuation, are you in a financial position to offer to replace the offending kitchenware yourself? It might help reinforce your position if they see it's important enough to you that you'd pay to replace what is already in the house.

Tefal is fine at low to medium temps. The problem arises when the temps are turned up on hi for frying. They are also dangerous even on low or medium heat if you walk away while the pot is on the stove with the stove on and nothing in the pot. I decided discretion was the better part of valor and threw any nonstick cookware out.

I have a few pieces of nonstick cookware and rarely use them. When I do use them, I make sure the stove fan is on high to eliminate any possibility of fumes being in the house.
