Mango - Poicephalus Jardine
So these days I've had, let's say visitors, and I was obliged to sleep in a certain room that happened to be my parrot's sleeping room (since it is dark and quite, won't disturb his sleep)
He usually get in a dark room with a cover at like 8-9 PM and I remove the cover the next day at 8-9 AM.
I noticed he doesn't sleep normally? I woke up once and heard him moving in the cage even after like 4 hours of him being sleepy (then covered) and in the morning, like when I want to go and remove his cover, he is also moving around the cage.
I don't know if he just sleeps too much, or I have to make him sleep like 2 hours during the day in case he had a sort of insomnia.
What do you think?

Rudy the Ruby Macaw
I put Rudy to bed around 8:30 - 9PM, then uncover him at 7:30 - 8AM. By the time I uncover him he's moving around, but he's not complaining about being covered up before then so I assume he's OK with it. He does take a nap or two during the day.

He sleeps in my room with me at night, so I can be sure no guests are messing with him at night when they are here. If he moves around during the night I sleep though it. I'm newly owned by a Macaw so I can't offer any advice, just tell you how it is at my house.

Hahn's macaw, RIP George, Jenday Conure
Hahnzel moves around in his cage at night after he goes to bed. He will move around when I go to bed since he sleeps semi-covered in our bedroom. If I hear him moving around alot I will give him some light from my phone or small flashlight I keep in my nightstand so he can see what he is doing in the dark.

Kiwi -Pacific Parrotlet, Rio - Senegal. Both hatched 2/2013
I put Rio in a her sleep cage in our bedroom. Hubby likes to stay up late watching tv and I don't want to disturbed Rio's schedule. She is sun up to sun down, but she will stay pretty much quiet in her cage until about 8 ish. Then she will get down and peek under the blanket to say "hellooooooo, I'm awake" She is never alarming about it, just whistles at me. She will take a couple of naps throughout the day too.

Mango is always active though, unless he is absolutely bored so I see him trying to close his eyes. Sometimes he closes them for more than just seconds, can that be referred to sleepy position?

That's what Rudy does when he gets sleepy, he closes his eyes, then opens them, closes them, then opens them...until he falls asleep. Like a little baby does.
