Have a wound on a belly

Hello, please look at this photo:

Two days ago I saw red dot on my parrot's belly, I thought that it's just a mess. Yesterday I understood that it was a wound. It didn't bleed, so I thought that it'll heal by itself. Unfortunately she touches it and it began bleeding again. What should I do? Do I have to take her to the vet?

MY COCKATIEL HAS EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!!! its fine ittill she flys around lots then i bleeds again!
I would take her to a vet asap!... I would do the same but my mum wont take my tiel!

TELL ME WHAT YOUR VET SAYS SO I KNOW BECAUSE ITS BEEN PUZZLING ME FOR A WHILE!

Just finished talking to the vet, he said that the parrot won't stop touching the wound and I have to put a collar on her and put a cream on it. So I'll take her there today.

Good think that you're taking her to the vet.

He may put an E-collar on her just long enough for the wound to heal.

my bird don't touch the wound to make it bleed she justs flys around lots and then it does hum...

Phhh, the visit to the vet's went totally wrong. He tried to put a collar on her and she panicked like crazy, tried to fly and fell on the floor. Because of the fall she opened the wound again and it became even larger. The vet was afraid to leave the collar on her, cause she looked as if she is about to have cardiac arrest. At the end he gave us cream to put on the wound twice a day. I really hope that this visit didn't cause her serious injury. When we came home she ate and drank, so I hope that it's a good sign. Hope she'll be ok.

Neytiri has been in a cone and bubble for a few months. And it has worked wonders. We had to modify the cone though as she ended up eating it and plucking around where it sits. So they put on a neck extender (bubble). You might be able to use that to prevent her from flexing her neck enough to reach the wound.

This one looks much better then the one that our vet has. Anyway I don't want to take her to vet again, to stressful. In the morning she looked fine and didn't touch the wound. Hopefully she'll get better by herself.

What kind of cream did they give you? We used silver sulfadine on Neytiri and it was like a miracle how fast she healed up.

The vet thought that it was caused because of clipped wings. According to him she was clipped wrong, so when she flies she falls down on the chest, hence the wound.

The cream contains (neomycin 2%, enilcohazole 1%, Prednison Acetate0.5%).
I came from work now, she looks fine. Told me "hello" and ate some fruits. I don't see her touching the wound, so I think she'll be well.

How horrible!!! I'm gagging just thinking about how painful that might be. The bone hitting against the floor is actually ripping through his skin????

Thank you for sharing your vet's diagnosis. I read it just in time too! I scheduled my bird for a clipping this week as was advised by my breeder. He said that way I can relax and not worry about open doors and windows. I felt bad about it but he said birds do not mind getting clipped at all. I don't know how he knows that unless he speaks bird language hahaha!

What you shared is good enough reason for me, so thank you, thank you. I hope your bird gets better and he stops picking at the hole. To keep him from having another crash landing, maybe you should just keep him in the cage for now? At least until his wound has closed. Best wishes!

A bird clipped properly should never crash land and hurt his keel bone. It's improper clips causing the birds to drop and hurt itself. I suggest looking into the pros and cons of flight vs clipped and ensure you vet knows exactly what type of clip you want. I dislike your breeders reasonings of relaxing around doors and windows - clipped or not you should be super vigilant.

Thanks, she's way better now. Has a good appetite, chattering all the day. She discovered that talking while holding the head inside the food bowl sounds much louder and funnier, so she does that a lot now

I am not sure what's better clipped or unclipped. My tiels are unclipped, the male is very good at flying, while female is very very bad at it, her flight is sort of heavy and her landing is very bad most of the times.
On the other hand here we have a wound that was caused by clipped wings on my CAG.
So I really don't know what's better....
