I had my regular check-up with my doctor today. While chatting, she noticed the rather sorry (scratched and bitten) state of my hands and forearms.

'I've got birds!' I announced smugly. 'They have sharp toenails...'

Whereupon, the doctor stuck me immediately with a tetanus booster.

So I just thought I'd remind everyone that it's probably a good idea to have a current tetanus shot, especially if your birds break skin on you occasionally. :)

Yeah! My Uncle Harry got tetanus and it went right to the lockjaw stage and beyond. He nearly died an awful death from paralysis of all his large muscles (including the ones you breathe with).

I don't mind needles and was pleasantly surprised when this one didn't even register as it was going in. Tonight, though, I've got a big blue bruise and a sore arm. How odd!
