Just wondering if anyone uses a humidifier water treatment in there humidifiers this time of year. Here is a pic of one we are considering. I just wanted to make sure it is safe to use with birds.

LOL! Understood. Hopefully someone will chime in.

With the winters up here, a humidifier is a must, especially for the birds, let alone us!

I don't know about that product, but adding a little F-10 to a humidifier is safe for parrots, it kills mold spores and various viruses present in the air.

Just spoke with hubby, we are not sure what F-10 is. I figured he would know. LOL! Where do I get it? Thanks Ashley!

Do you need to treat it?? What water are you using in it? I only use distilled water and have no problems. It bothers me the label says" keep out of reach of children". What type of humidifier are you using? can you visually check it for scale build up?

That label bothers me too Henpecked. We have a large humidifier that covers the entire downstairs. Using distilled would be tough because we would go through 100's of gallons.

Our huminity can get as low as 20% during the really cold months. I guess my husband has used some other brand occasionally in the past with Quincy, but with 4 new birds he wanted to check.

We have really hard water here.

Ok, I certainly paid absolutely NO attention in chemistry, but wonder if you could possibly use sodium carbonate (washing soda) to soften the water.

Here is info for F-10, I don't know if I would use that in a humidifier.
F10 Biocare Disinfectant Concentrate - Discounted USA

I believe the active ingredient in the product you showed is Tetrasodium EDTA

When I GTSed, I found out that Tetrasodium EDTA is the Preservative Made from Formaldehyde.
