So I have a tiel that is finally starting to eat fresh food. *Yah!* And I have read the peppers like jalapeños are really liked by birds. This was in reference to bigger birds but are they ok for smaller birds?

I occasionally mix in a jalepeno with my parrotlets mash. I don't believe it's bad for him. Out of all the things he tends to pick out that is one of them.

BirdMa Parrots (big & small) have taste buds that are not as sensative as ours. This is why they like some of the hotter foods such as hot peppers. Everything in moderation though.

Chilli's
EINA I LEARNT MY LESSON THE HOT WAY
Whenever Mishka comes out her cage she says give me a kiss please.
I willingly respond BUT after giving her a chilli I kissed her...
WoW that sure was not a kiss I enjoyed.
Sitting on my lap we play the the tongue game.
I stick out my tongue and say where's Mishka tongue.
She then sticks her tongue out to the side of her beak.
THEN I HAVE TO KISS HER AND SAY GOOD GIRL
What we don't do for love :greenyellow:

Ok cool. I just wanted to be sure. One more question. Are dried peppers better for them or are fresh better because they are less likely to have something in them from being dried?

I will sometimes feed the dried fruits and vegies. The only one Rosie really likes is papaya. I have wasted much $$ on the other dried foods. That is not to say your bird would not like them. Truthfully I do not know if there is a difference but one usuallly prefers the fresh over the dired.

Hi SB
Please read the packaging labels carefully before giving Rosie any dried fruit sold over a counter.
I make mixes of dried fruit in my business.
All the dried fruit here in South Africa is treated with sulphurdioxide, which keeps the fruit fresher for longer.
Sulphurdioxide is chemicals and are extremely dangerous if given to any bird.
I would hate for anything to happen to Rosie.
Take care
