Our mustache was on the bed with our sun conure and she bit him on his back which resulted in a few pin feathers being ripped out and she broke the skin:(

I cleaned the wound and dressed it with anti-biotic. He didn't chirp or anything and he acts like he doesn't even know he was bit.

How bad? How deep is the bite? What part of his back?

i am sorry to hear that. do you have any saline solution to flush out the bite? luckily bites from other birds dont get infected easily.

just avoid using oily ointments like neosporin or polysporin on the feathers--it destroys the feathers and will make it hard to keep waterproof and warm. also, its not good for them to eat it.

this collage will help, but only if the injury is minor. if he is bleeding a lot, or it starts getting infected, you must get to the vet for antibiotics, and maybe stitches. i'd suggest a vet to be on the safe side all the same.

it never bled and looks like the 1st pic in this collage. it's just above his tail feathers. it's about half the size of a q-tip head.

Bird fights do happen. Just be sure to keep an eye on the wound for signs of infection, and for the next few days, keep re-applying a bird safe antibiotic ointment or use hydrogen peroxide until it starts healing over. If there is any sign of infection OR symptoms of illness/her acting out of the ordinary, it's better to be safe than sorry and contact your avian vet for advice. Otherwise, she should heal up in a few days (and probably wouldn't mind some extra treats and love :09:).

I was horrified when I found my Sennie and P'let rolling around on the floor fighting. That was one occasion I knew I was going to get bit, and I did. My P'let is a stinker and huge instigator, but she is no match for a Senegal. Rio will finished it. I thought I was being so careful having them no less than 8 feet apart on different play areas. I was no more then 6 feet when it started. Now no bird is left out unattended. And usually only one is out at a time. Not worth it. When they are outside, they are in separate cages next to each other. They're getting used to each other but will try and be sneaking through the bars as they try and get to one another. But it only lasts about 30 sec, and then they are fine the rest of the day. Both are female, and both were born in the same month and year. They are 1 yr this month.
